- The parking lot also serves as place to catch shuttle to Rangers Ballpark.
- Jambalaya lunch special is a nice portion.
Add some Cajun spice to your lunch or dinner at Swamp Daddy’s which not only features standards like shrimp creole and jambalaya, but also fried gator tail, frog legs and Dungeness crab. If you enjoy grilled oysters, choose among garlic parmesan, Buffalo, mesquite, or Oysters Rock-a-fella ($9.95 dozen, $6.95 half dozen). Oysters Laredo is $10.95 dozen/$7.50 half dozen. For lovers of fried seafood, all fried items are hand-breaded in Swamp Daddy’s own batter.
I love sweet potato fries and luckily it’s a side serving (along with Cajun corn, Cajun new taters, red beans & rice, dirty rice, breaded okra, French fries, hush puppies). The squash & veggies was nothing to write home about. Stick with the fried stuff (so much for eating healthy!).
You must be 18 or older to enter because Swamp Daddy’s is more of a bar than a family restaurant. It’s very casual with sharks and fish mounted to the walls, plus there’s a wall of video games. I was there at lunch and it was evenly split between patrons at the bar and patrons seated at tables.
Lunch specials are only $6.95 and include 2 side servings. The lunch specials include fried shrimp, popcorn shrimp, fried catfish, chicken strips, chicken jambalaya, shrimp creole, blackened tilapia, and chicken fried steak. I had the blackened tilapia which was very good and served on a bed of dirty rice. My friend enjoyed the chicken jambalaya which is really spicy. If you like your seafood spicy, I think you’ll like this place.
If you can arrive between 4-6pm on Monday through Saturday, that’s the Seafood Happy Hour in which all food is 20% off.
As for dinner entrees: shrimp creole is $10.95, prime rib sandwich is $9.50, Po-Boys are $7.95 (shrimp, fried oyster, crawfish, catfish), blackened tuna salad is $9.95 and smoked salmon salad is $9.95. Among the specialties, the Dungeness Crab/Shrimp/Crawfish entrée is the highest price item on the menu at $20.95. The hot-boiled Dungeness Crab is $19.95.
There are also daily specials Sunday thru Thursday including: Monday All You Can Eat Popcorn Shrimp ($10.50); Tuesday Half-Price Topless Oysters; Wednesday All You Can Eat Fried Catfish ($11.50); Thursday buy-1-get-1-free chicken fried steak; Super Sunday discounted menu 5-11pm.
If you visit Swamp Daddy’s prior to a Rangers, you can catch a shuttle from Lincoln Square to Rangers Ballpark. The shuttle picks up patrons in the parking lot in front of the restaurant. Want to enjoy a pitcher of beer before-or-after the game? A pitcher of Coors or Miller Hi-Life is $5.00 (less than one cup of beer at the game!).
But don’t use the Rangers game as an excuse to stop by. There are daily drink specials, too. And the $6.95 lunch specials are very reasonably priced for a nice portion of food.
